Reception Ideas...an A-Z guide...

Looking for some unique ideas for your reception?? Carys Schutz, Owner and Manager of Dulce Designs- Weddings & Events, shares some of her ideas and upcoming trends that will make your day one of a kind...

A is for Autumn...
Be inspired by the bright and warm colours of Autumn. It is one of my favourite seasons and if you are having an Autumn wedding, its an ideal time to incorporate the golds, reds and yellows into your colour scheme.

B is for Bollywood...
Why not try something different for your reception party and incorporate a Bollywood theme, with the decor, music, henna artists etc. There are many ways in which to keep your guests entertained.

C is for Cupcakes...
A favourite trend in 2010, cupcakes are still rolling on into 2011. Why not use these tempting treats as edible wedding favours?

D is for Diamonds...
A girl's best friend and another way to add a bit of sparkle to your wedding day. Bound to brighten any reception table, table sprinkles are available in all shapes and colours to match your theme.

E is for Eco Friendly?...
Why not try something a bit different for your wedding invitations and favours? Use Eco-friendly products, it's not only good for the environment but rather easy on the eye.

F is for Fresh Fragrances...
There is nothing like a sweet smelling candle to set the mood at any event. Why not follow in Cheryl Cole and Tamzin Outhwaite's footsteps and welcome your guests into your venue with a beautiful scent.

G is for Gift list....
A must have at every wedding. If you find you already have everything you need to set up a new home, why not try an alternative gift list and get your guests to donate to a charity of your choice.

H is for Homework....
Thats right...homework... Before choosing your theme and accessories do your homework!! Check with your venue that it is licenced and is happy to have burning candles, open flames etc. Theres nothing worse than a party pooper on the day spoiling the mood.

I is for Inspiration....
Make your wedding day more personal. See if your wedding theme, favours etc. can reflect you and your partners personalites or hobbies.

J is for Jelly beans...
Why not treat your guests with a sweet bar. Fill a table with sweets of all shapes, colours and sizes. Play around with the arrangement and design, which will allow you to create another visual feature.

K is for Keepsakes...
Instead of having favours that will be put on the shelf and forgotten about, give your guests something they can remember you by and use everyday. Like these love bird salt and pepper shakers from http://www.aweddinglessordinary.co.uk/

L is for Lighting...
Set the mood for your evening reception by adding candles. A romantic and cost effective way to add a touch of elegance to your event.

M is for Made by hand...
Handmade wedding stationery is getting more and more popular every year. If you know exactly what you want and want it your way, then go bespoke with your wedding stationery.

N is for Nautical...
Send your guests on an adventure and incorporate a nautical theme into
your wedding day, either in the fashion or the decor at your reception.

O is for Outside the Box...
More and more couples are going for outdoor receptions, whether that be completley al fresco or under the cover of a marquee - there is a definite exotic charm to the them and outdoor BBQ's are becoming a popular menu choice.

P is for Pomanders...
These unique flower arrangements are a great addition to any reception or wedding ceremony. A touch of flora on your wedding day is a must and pomanders are a great way of doing that.

Q is for Quizzes...
Help your guests to mingle with some table trivia. Encouraging them to chat and play games is one way to break the ice and make sure they have a good time.

R is for Recycled...
Why not use recycled paper to create your very own, very unique decorations. Origami swans are one way of taking this age old art and using it in your big day.

S is for Shabby Chic...
A wonderful movement in fashion is now a popular theme for receptions. Add a pinch of the 50's with a touch of french chic. Think Cath Kidson, floral prints, lace and pearls.

T is for Trimmings...
Add your own personal touch by using bespoke trimmings for your table decorations, centrepieces and favours.

U is for Umbrellas...
Yes, these not only keep you dry, they are also now being used to accessorize bridal outfits as well as reception venues.

V is for Vintage...
The afternoon tea trend is being embraced in the catering industry and is now crossing over into wedding etiquette. Make the most of this mismatch trend by buying your crokery from charity shops or use it as an alternative way to display your centrepieces.

W is for Words...
Greet your guests by using stylish word blocks, or use them to decorate your
       head table.

X marks the spot...
Make sure your guests know where they are sitting, with individual place names. Have fun in creating a unique way to display them.

Y is for Young ones...
If you are having alot of children at your wedding it always helps to have some games or toys of some kind to keep them entertained- giving mum and dad a break so they can enjoy the celebrations.

Z is for Zesty...
Why not add one of your five a day into your reception decor. Fresh fruit displays are becoming very popular as a healthy alternative to your desserts and they look pretty too!!
